An addon that provides various quality-of-life features for editing Blender nodetrees.
(Tested to work for versions 3.0 and later.)

Installation

Download the .zip file from the release page and install via Edit > Preferences > Addons > Install. Blender should automatically recognize the file as an addon.

Usage

Once enabled, the addon should create a menu category within node-related workspaces - (shaders, geometry nodes, compositing, etc.).

Within the menu, the following functions are available:

> Select by Type - Makes a selection of based on node types (nodes, reroutes, or frames).

> Normalize Node Width - Takes all selected nodes and sets them to share the same node width.

> Label Reroutes by Links - Takes all selected reroutes and labels them according to their closest socket link.

> Toggle Unused Sockets - Hides unused input/output sockets of the selected nodes.

> Set Labels - Similar to the F2 rename operator, but this one supports renaming multiple selected nodes.

> Set Node Width - Sets the width of selected nodes.

> Set Color - Applies custom color to selected nodes.

> Center at Origin - Repositions the entire nodetree such that its bounding box center sits at the origin (0,0).

Preferences

- Options:

> Ignore Empty Selections - When enabled, the New and Intersection selection modes of Select by Type does not follow through making a selection if the resulting selection is empty.

> Normalize by Unique Values - When enabled, Normalize by Average ignores repeated node width values in its calculations. (Disabling this makes the calculation a weighted average based on the no. of nodes of each particular width.)

> Display Selection Type Switches - When enabled, buttons for cycling through the different modes of Select by Type operator appears on the addon menu. Allows you to toggle whether to display the buttons as icons, text, or both.

Hotkeys

No hotkeys are defined by default, but a convenience menu is available in the addon preferences for easy hotkey editing:

- How to Manually Modify Hotkeys

All the hotkeys can also be accessed under Edit > Preferences > Keymap, with all of them being prefixed with "nd_utils..." Searching for said prefix should yield all the corresponding hotkeys and thus allowing you to modify them, though unlike in the preference menu, keymap display here is limited by operator name so it's admittedly less convenient.
